Sierra Blue Coffee Roasters began in Bakersfield, California, in 2017 with a simple goal. We wanted to source some of the finest coffees we could find and let each origin shine. As a small-batch specialty coffee roaster, we seek distinctive single-origin coffees from growing regions around the world. For that reason, we take an artisan approach to every roast. Experience, careful observation, and instinct help guide how each coffee develops.
Our fluid-bed roasting process creates clean, well-defined flavor profiles while highlighting the qualities that make each coffee unique. Specialty coffee changes with the seasons, so we continually taste and evaluate new coffees. Meanwhile, our offerings evolve as exceptional lots become available. That gives coffee lovers something new to discover while leaving room for longtime favorites and our growing coffee subscription program.

Coffee with a Purpose: Supporting the Sierra Nevada
Sierra Blue Coffee Roasters grew from more than a love of exceptional coffee. The Sierra Nevada has shaped our story from the beginning. Our founder worked as a wildland firefighter and has served for decades as a ski patroller. His love of fly-fishing and the outdoors also shaped Sierra Blue’s connection to this region. Those experiences gave us a deep appreciation for the mountains, forests, rivers, wildlife, and people of the Sierra Nevada.
As Sierra Blue grows, we intend to give a portion of our profits to organizations doing meaningful work. Our focus includes conservation, healthy rivers and watersheds, wildfire protection, mountain safety, and support for those who protect these places.
California Trout protects and restores California’s rivers, watersheds, and freshwater ecosystems. In addition, its work helps preserve healthy wild fish populations for future generations.
Sierra Nevada Alliance brings people and organizations together to protect the Sierra Nevada. Its work supports conservation, restoration, stewardship, and resilient mountain communities.
Wildland Firefighter Foundation supports injured wildland firefighters and their families. It also helps families of firefighters who die in the line of duty.
National Ski Patrol promotes safety in skiing and outdoor recreation. It provides education, emergency-care training, and support for volunteer and professional ski patrollers nationwide.
Ultimately, these organizations reflect causes that connect directly to who we are. As Sierra Blue Coffee Roasters grows, so does our opportunity to give back. We want to help protect the Sierra Nevada, its natural resources, and the people who care for them.
